Nin Jiom - Pei Pa Koa - Herbal Cough Syrup
A completely natural and alcohol-free formulation of fruits, flowers, herbs, and honey founded on Traditional Chinese Medicine, Nin Jiom Herbal Syrup is one of the world's best-known cough and sore throat syrups; it's very effective yet gentle and quite palatable.
This remarkable herbal cough syrup can effectively soothe minor sore throats, relieve coughs, reduce phlegm, and protect irritated areas in the mouth and throat without the use of any artificial sweeteners, chemicals, additives, or colouring agents.
Surprisingly pleasant-tasting, Nin Jiom has even been used in some food and cocktail recipes!
It originated about a hundred years ago when a provincial commander asked a famous physician of the Chinese Royal family to devise a prescription for his mother, who had a persistent cough. The formula worked so well the family decided to mass-produce it to help others, as well, and named it "Nin Jiom" (which means, "in memory (or remembrance) of my mother").
The popular name for his formula in China is "Pei Pa Koa," which simply means "loquat syrup," with the loquat fruit (a member of the Kumquat family), being one of its main ingredients, which can moisten the lungs and helps to heal. Some of its other all-natural ingredients and their actions or properties include: Licorice, which can invigorate circulation and repair throat damage; Coltsfoot (whose Latin name means "cough dispeller"), which is an expectorant; Fritillaria, a flower (a member of the lily family) which can reduce airway inflammation; and Honey, which is a potent antiseptic that can coat inflamed areas.
While cough syrups laden with synthetic chemical ingredients can cause adverse effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, or confusion, Nin Jiom does not; you can safely take it any time during the day to relieve coughing or to soothe a sore throat.
